Even though I’m not an authority on TikTok, I can confidently say that these buns deserve all the attention they’re getting. In fact, they’re the best cinnamon buns I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried quite a few!

What’s the secret to their divine taste? The buns are baked in a bath of double cream, giving them a moist and richer texture.

And the best part? You don’t need to be a baking pro to enjoy these TikTok cinnamon buns. Just use a package of pre-made buns, and you’ll have them ready in no time!

How to Make the Best TikTok Cinnamon Rolls

TikTok cinnamon buns exploded on my FYP a few weeks ago, and it took me just one video to try the recipe myself.

And they were so good that I didn’t even have time to take a single photo! In fact, they disappeared so quickly that the oven hadn’t even cooled down.

I’ve seen some recipe variations, and if you want to make cinnamon buns from scratch, go ahead.

But I think this hack is perfect for canned cinnamon buns as it jazzes them up with very little effort.

Heck, you can even take store-bought rolls and warm them up in the oven. The cream will soak into the dough, making them a million times more addictive.

Believe me, once you’ve tried this food trend, you’ll never go back to ordinary cinnamon buns.

Ingredients

  • Pre-packaged cinnamon buns – The beauty of this viral food trend is that you don’t need to make cinnamon buns from scratch! Use any brand (Pillsbury, Grands, Rhodes, or Trader Joe’s) and choose the size you prefer. Don’t forget to adjust the cooking time if you go for giant rolls.
  • Heavy cream – This is the secret ingredient to give canned cinnamon buns a homemade taste! Use heavy cream for the best results, but if you can find 40%, even better!
  • Melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon – When mixed, this trio creates a rich, buttery, and caramel elixir that beautifully coats the cinnamon buns.
  • Cream cheese frosting – It’s optional, but let’s be honest, what cinnamon bun is complete without frosting on top? Either homemade or store-bought frosting will do the trick.

How to Store TikTok Cinnamon Buns

Cinnamon buns taste best when freshly baked. That’s why I never make more than I need or freeze them raw for later.

That said, you can store leftovers in an airtight container and leave them at room temperature for 1 to 2 days or refrigerate them for 3 to 5 days.

They won’t taste as fresh, but they’ll still be quite decent.

Reheat the cooled cinnamon buns in the microwave in 15-second intervals until they’re warm for the best results.

Can You Freeze TikTok Cinnamon Buns?

Raw cinnamon buns freeze very well. Just prepare the dough, add the filling, roll, cut, cover, and freeze.

When you’re ready to eat them, take out as many as you need from the freezer and let them thaw in the refrigerator overnight.

Then, let them come to room temperature and double in size before baking.

This is my preferred method and the one I used for TikTok cinnamon buns. I don’t freeze them after baking, and here’s why:

TikTok cinnamon buns with heavy cream may not freeze well because dairy products often separate after freezing and thawing. Although heavy cream has a higher fat content and is less likely to split, it’s still a possibility. That said, if you individually wrap them and thaw them slowly, it should work.

The best way to freeze TikTok cinnamon buns is after baking when they’re cold and without frosting on top.

Double-wrap the rolls in plastic wrap and aluminum foil and freeze them for up to 3 months.
