OJ Simpson, the former NFL player, actor, and controversial figure, has died at the age of 76 after a battle with prostate cancer, his family announced on social media. In a heartfelt statement, the family shared, “On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with prostate cancer. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace.”

Simpson, nicknamed “The Juice,” had a remarkable football career that began with playing college football at USC. In 1969, he was drafted No. 1 overall by the Buffalo Bills, where he quickly established himself as one of the greatest running backs of all time. Throughout his decade-long NFL career, Simpson played for both the Bills and the San Francisco 49ers, setting numerous records along the way. Following his retirement from the sport in 1979, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as a gridiron legend.
