Man appears in court charged with murder of Olivia Pratt-Korbel, 9, who was gunned down at home

On August 22nd, a horrifying incident occurred in Liverpool which resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl named Olivia.

Thomas Cashman, a 34-year-old man, has been accused of her murder, as well as the attempted murder of Joseph Nee, a convicted burglar who sought refuge in Olivia’s home.

Cashman has also been charged with attempting to murder Olivia’s mother, Cheryl, as well as possessing firearms with the intent to endanger lives.

During the hearing, Cashman was seen taking notes while appearing via video link from HMP Manchester. Olivia’s family also attended the hearing, which mainly focused on administrative matters. Cashman denies all charges and will face trial on March 6 at Manchester Crown Court.

The incident took place when Nee fled into Olivia’s home to escape a gunman. Cheryl, Olivia’s mother, opened the door to investigate the commotion, and Nee forced his way inside. The gunman followed and began shooting, hitting Cheryl first, followed by Olivia, who was standing behind her mother. Tragically, Olivia was pronounced dead shortly after the incident, while Cheryl was treated for a gunshot wound to her wrist.

In addition to Olivia’s death, Nee was treated for multiple wounds to his upper body, and he has since been sent back to jail for breaching the terms of his release. Olivia’s family paid tribute to her, describing her as a “unique, chatty, nosey little girl who broke the mould when she was born.
