Jack Whitehall mocks bizarre rumour that Richard Madeley is secretly his father

British comedian Jack Whitehall has addressed a long-standing rumour that Richard Madeley, presenter of shows such as This Morning and Good Morning Britain, is his secret father. The rumour, which dates back to Whitehall’s time hosting Big Brother’s Big Mouth in 2008, gained new traction when the pair appeared together on Good Morning Britain earlier this month. However, Whitehall told Heat magazine that the rumour was just that, saying “Richard seemed very flattered by that idea, didn’t he? But yes, that was genuinely a rumour… Maybe because I looked like his real son?” Madeley has two children with his wife and long-time on-screen partner Judy Finnigan: daughter Chloe, 35, and son Jack, 36.

Whitehall has recently been in the news after revealing that his girlfriend, Roxy Horner, collapsed at the 2021 Brit Awards, which he was hosting. Horner, who was rushed to hospital after the incident, was later diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Since then, she has been raising awareness about the condition, and has praised Whitehall for his support, saying “Jack’s been my absolute rock, he’s so lovely.”

Whitehall is known for his work as a stand-up comedian and as an actor, with roles in TV shows such as Fresh Meat and Bad Education. He has also made a number of documentaries, including the Netflix series Travels With My Father, in which he travelled around the world with his father, Michael Whitehall. The show was a critical and commercial success, and has been praised for its humour and heart.

Whitehall’s response to the rumours about Madeley is typical of his irreverent style, and it is unlikely that the speculation will have any impact on his career or personal life. For now, he remains one of the UK’s most popular comedians, and a firm favourite with audiences both at home and abroad.
