How to Boil Basmati Rice
Posted October 25, 2023 by: Admin
Basmati rice holds a special place in my heart, as it’s not only incredibly easy to prepare but also delivers a delightful fragrance and exquisite taste. When cooked, one cup of Basmati rice yields a generous 3½ cups, surpassing many other rice brands in quantity.

Important Tips:
- Use a large saucepan or pot to prevent starchy water from boiling over while the rice simmers. If you opt for a small pot, stay vigilant to avoid messy overflows. Glass lids on saucepans allow easy monitoring without lifting the lid.
- For every cup of Basmati rice, use 1½ cups of water.
- Season with about ¼-½ teaspoon of salt per cup of rice, adjusting to your taste preferences through practice.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Basmati Rice (yields 3½ cups)
- 1½ cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Begin by placing the rice in a container and covering it with warm or cold water. Wash the rice thoroughly, repeating this process 3-4 times or until the water runs clear (initially, the water may be cloudy). Drain the rice using a fine sieve (strainer).
- Heat the water over high heat until it boils. Add salt and the drained rice, bringing it back to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the rice simmer for 12 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it rest for an additional ten minutes.
- After resting, lift the lid from the pot and fluff the rice with a fork. Your Basmati rice is now ready to be savored. Serve it alongside your favorite sauce or dish and enjoy.
