In a heart-warming display of dedication and ingenuity, firefighters from the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company in southern New Jersey successfully rescued Daisy, an 11-month-old yellow Labrador, who found herself in a precarious situation last Thursday. The firefighters responded to a call from a Franklin Township home, where they discovered the young dog with her neck firmly stuck in the middle of a spare tire rim.
Upon arriving at the scene, the firefighters quickly assessed the situation and realized that time was of the essence. Daisy’s predicament required a swift and careful approach to ensure her safety and well-being. Lt. Brandon Volpe and his crew immediately began devising a plan to free the distressed Labrador from her tight spot.
The firefighters’ first instinct was to reach for a tried-and-true method: dish soap and water. They hoped that the slippery combination would be enough to help Daisy slip out of the tire rim. However, despite their best efforts, the dog remained firmly stuck. Lt. Volpe remarked, “She was pretty stuck in there,” emphasizing the severity of the situation.
Undeterred by the initial setback, the firefighters refused to give up on Daisy. They brainstormed alternative solutions, determined to find a way to liberate the trapped Labrador. Next on their list of creative ideas was the use of vegetable oil and plastic wrap. The crew carefully applied the oil around Daisy’s neck, hoping that the lubricant, combined with the plastic wrap, would create a slippery surface and allow her to slide out of the tire.
