Elon Musk has announced that 200 jobs will be cut from Twitter, including Esther Crawford, a loyal executive who famously slept at the company’s headquarters to prove her dedication. Crawford joined Twitter in December 2020 and was responsible for introducing the controversial “blue tick” verification, which required users to pay. However, Musk has now removed her from her post, along with 200 other employees, over the weekend.
In response to her sacking, Crawford released a statement saying that her hard work and optimism were not mistakes, and that she was proud of her team for building through chaos and noise. Meanwhile, Musk appeared to reference the sackings in a tweet, saying, “Hope you have a good Sunday. First day of the rest of your life.”
