Centre manager Ruth McCabe expressed her astonishment, stating, “We’ve never had a sudden intake of such a large amount of animals.”
The arrival of the guinea pigs was not a planned event, but rather the result of a tragic circumstance. The animals were donated to the RSPCA following the death of their previous owner, leaving them in need of new homes and care.
The RSPCA staff faced numerous challenges in the wake of this sudden arrival. They had to work swiftly to sex each guinea pig, check their health, and ensure they had sufficient bedding and food.
