Despite being away from the Met Gala for four years, Selena Gomez was not present at the event in New York City. Although Gomez was active on social media earlier in the day, promoting her brand Rare Beauty and her album Wondermind, she was not photographed on the Met Gala red carpet. Instead, she was seen out a week ago in Hollywood having dinner with her younger sister.
This sighting confirmed that Gomez had left New York after wrapping up filming for the third season of her TV series Only Murders in the Building. The production for this season had taken place in New York with co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short. Gomez had spent the first few months of 2023 in the city and marked the end of filming with a photo on her Instagram alongside this season’s guest star, Meryl Streep.
