Buckingham Palace recently announced that Prince Harry will attend his father King Charles’ coronation ceremony on May 6th in London, without his wife Meghan Markle and their children. While King Charles is reportedly pleased that his son will be there, the ongoing tension between Prince Harry and the royal family has yet to be resolved.
Despite the complexities of their relationship, a close friend of the couple assures that Prince Harry is attending the ceremony to support his father. “Maybe what they wanted wasn’t achieved, but at the end of the day, he’s going there to support his dad,” the friend says in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE.
The strain between Prince Harry and his family was apparent when he visited London in March for a court hearing but did not see King Charles or his brother Prince William. A palace insider confirms that things are still strained, and King Charles was deeply saddened by the accusations made against the royal family in Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, released in January.
