A woman has claimed that her excessive use of her mobile phone and other digital devices caused her to develop severe vertigo, which left her bedridden and reliant on a wheelchair.
Fenella Fox, who runs an OnlyFans account, would spend up to 14 hours a day scrolling through her iPhone and iPad. At first, she experienced head and neck aches, which forced her to go to bed early to relieve the pain. Her symptoms gradually worsened after she moved to Portugal, and she was eventually unable to walk.
Fox reported feeling dizzy, distorted, and unwell, with a serious problem with her balance. She visited several doctors but none could diagnose her condition. It was not until her father found an article on cyber motion sickness or digital vertigo that she identified with the symptoms.
Cyber motion sickness is a condition that is becoming more common, and it usually occurs due to a malfunction of the nervous system that is responsible for blood and oxygen flow to the brain and body. The condition is often triggered by excessive use of digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
