During the follow-up ultrasound, the technician gave them an even more peculiar look.

Chris explained, “The tech who did the initial scan gave me a strange look, and we became worried again.” He continued, “She was really sweet and said, ‘I’m not supposed to say this, but you’re having four babies.’

In just seven days, their expectations had gone from one baby to four.

Chris joked, “I said I wouldn’t come back because next time there would be five babies. We were just shocked. Going from three to four was easier to accept. Shortly after that, we found out that they were healthy.”

According to Dr. Lauren Murray and her team, the odds of identical, spontaneous quadruplets are between 1 in 11 million and 1 in 15 million. In simple terms, it’s incredibly rare.

Dr. Murray said, “It’s unbelievable. It’ll never happen again in my career. I told Jenny, ‘Girl, go buy some lottery tickets because those are the kind of odds we’re dealing with.’ She called it a miracle.”

Fortunately, the four babies were perfectly positioned to share resources, with no concerns about one of them depriving the others of nutrition, which could have necessitated surgery and caused complications.

Dr. Murray said, “The babies shared incredibly well. There were no incidents on the sonogram leading up to the birth where we were worried about significant size differences.”

Jenny gave birth on March 15 at 28.5 weeks. Despite her best efforts, she had to deliver before 33 weeks. The babies were born during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, but her C-section went smoothly.

The first to arrive was baby Harrison, weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces. He was followed by Hudson, weighing 1 pound 15 ounces, Hardy at 2 pounds 10 ounces, and Henry at 2 pounds 6.7 ounces.
