Fatigue

The symptom of fatigue has been raised in the context of various medical conditions and women, in particular, may experience unusual fatigue in the days before a heart attack. People at risk may constantly feel tired when their heart is weakened.

Loss of appetite and nausea

Nausea, vomiting, abdominal swelling, and indigestion can also result from a heart attack. Such symptoms are caused by a weak heart with blocked arteries. The problem is common among women and worsens when they perform any kind of activity; it only gets better after a period of rest. People with these problems should see their doctor as soon as possible.

Physical pain

The pain starts in the chest and spreads to the shoulders, arms, neck, jaw, and abdomen. It is common for men to feel pain in their left arm during a heart attack, while women feel pain in one or the opposite arm and even between the shoulder blades. The pain can be occasional and can vary from mild to serious. Once again, it is important to make an appointment with your doctor.

A fast, irregular heartbeat

The heart can “skip a beat” or beat once too often, it happens to almost everyone, every day, without necessarily causing any symptoms, something that shouldn’t be a cause for worry. But if the heart beats irregularly, it can lead to a heart attack.

Irregular heartbeats are also followed by dizziness, weakness, and shortness of breath. You should consult a doctor immediately because such irregularities can lead to serious stroke, heart failure, and even death without proper medical intervention.

Shortness of breath

When the heart no longer acts as a pump, the lungs take up fluid and can no longer breathe naturally. People may start to feel out of breath even when they are resting. Although shortness of breath can be the consequence of chronic diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), it can also be a sign of a highly disabling or even fatal disease.

Sweating

Excessive and unnecessary sweating is one of the most common symptoms of a heart attack. But this can also be observed in people with lung disease, and several types of cancer.

Weakness

When the heart is unable to pump the blood needed for the body, you immediately feel very weak. This should not be considered as a minor problem and you should consult your doctor for a more detailed diagnostic test before it’ s too late.

Puffiness

When the heart gradually loses its function as a pump, it causes fluid retention which can result in a swelling of the lower parts in the body (feet and legs). This can be spread out or limited to one limb or part of it.

Heart failure can also cause unexplained weight gain and loss of appetite.

People who experience any of these symptoms mentioned in this article should never ignore them, as they could be dealing with a very serious problem that requires medical care. Worse yet, they may have a heart condition that can lead to severe problems if they are not immediately treated.
