So, who is Colleen Hoover? A 42-year-old Texas native, Hoover worked as a social worker before becoming a counselor at WIC, a nutrition program for women, children, and infants. It was during this time that she began to pursue her passion for writing. Hoover would write on a borrowed laptop during her off hours, often while one of her sons was at play rehearsals. Her first novel, “Slammed” (2012), was written as a Christmas gift for her mother and self-published to share with friends and family. It became her first published novel and her first book to appear on the USA TODAY Best-Selling Books list.
