In a Las Vegas neighborhood, a compassionate neighbor stumbled upon a tiny, helpless kitten right in front of a residence. Nearby, the sight of identical little siblings tugged at their heartstrings, but unfortunately, there was little they could do to help.
The mother cats were nowhere to be found, leaving the lone infant in dire need of attention.
It was at this moment that Nikki Martinez, a dedicated field and overexposure volunteer, sprang into action to rescue the kitten. Alongside her husband, Pule Kotov, she has dedicated the last decade to aiding and preserving these furries in need.
Despite Pule’s recent cancer diagnosis, they continued to devote their time and energy to assisting these little creatures.
“She was so little and frail that we wondered if she had a future, but we were determined to aid her in the struggle,” Nikki explains.
The kitten was given the name Rocky and spent her first night in a cozy incubator, enjoying a nourishing meal. Nikki and her husband took turns feeding the baby, ensuring she stayed warm and comfortable. For the first week, Nikki woke up every two hours at night to care for the kitten. Rocky gradually developed an appetite and began to grow.
Daddy Kotov bottle-fed her whenever he could, and every time he looked at the kitten, he couldn’t help but smile.
At 24 days old, Rocky proudly left her nest and moved into a mini-playpen, where she began to develop her leg muscles. The fluffy baby was captivated by an array of new toys and tried to grab them all, despite being a little wobbly. She relished being pampered and insisted on snacks (bottles) all day long.
During a crucial procedure for Papulya Kotov, which was a tremendous success, Rocky took on the role of comforter and distraction, monopolizing her foster mother’s attention. After being discharged from the hospital, Daddy Kotov eagerly reunited with his little pride and joy, determined to share his parental responsibilities. Rocky eagerly accepted the bottle from the man, downing the meal with delight. It was an inspiring sight to witness two genuine warriors for life supporting each other.
In just five weeks, Rocky blossomed into Miss Independence. She boldly revealed her inner audacity, becoming more playful and curious, often displaying her mischievous side. Rocky adored playing with Daddy Kotov and closely following him around the house, occasionally pouncing on his feet. She would sit beside him, purring encouragingly, as if she knew he needed help in his recovery.
Rocky took her time learning how to feed herself since she had spent so much time with her foster parents and a bottle. Nikki and her spouse were overjoyed when she finally decided to embrace adulthood. Rocky spent her time playing games and honing her feline abilities.
The caring guardians imagined the perfect family who would treat her like a tiny princess when the time came for her to spread her wings and embark on a new journey.
