In a heartwarming display of love and devotion, a grandson has captured the hearts of millions on social media platforms through his special bond with his beloved grandmother. The story of Stewart Matthew and his grandmother, affectionately known as “GB” or “Grandmother Bobble,” has become a shining example of the power of family and the importance of cherishing our elderly loved ones.
Bobbe Young Windham, the famous GB, was an 88-year-old woman with an infectious smile and a jovial character that captivated the hearts of over 5.2 million followers on TikTok. Her grandson, Stewart Matthew, spoke fondly of her, describing her as a woman full of life and with a strong personality. The two had lived together years ago, after the passing of Matthew’s grandfather, and they had become each other’s rock. Matthew knew that one day, he would have his grandmother live with him again, and he was determined to do everything in his power to make her happy.
Matthew’s success, both professionally and personally, was greatly supported by his grandmother. Two years ago, he landed a job as a project manager in a construction company and found the love of his life, Morgan. Together, they decided to build a home in Freeport, and their happiness knew no bounds. However, Matthew felt that something was missing in their family nest. That’s when he made the decision to ask his grandmother to come and live with them, as reported by The Epoch Times in March 2022. To his delight, his fiancée welcomed the idea with open arms.
In 2020, before the construction of their new home began, Matthew and Morgan announced to GB that they would be taking her to live with them. The only intriguing surprise was what the house would look like. One day in October, Matthew suggested that GB accompany him to the construction site to check on the progress of the work. As they arrived, he took out his camera to film her reaction. The video, which has left no one indifferent, showed GB’s unfiltered reaction – a mix of emotion, amazement, and pure joy. With tears in her eyes, she declared, “You know somebody wants me.” She was thrilled and transported by her grandson’s detailed description of the house, enthusiastically adding, “I’m ready to go.”
The move was just one of many surprises Matthew had in store for his grandmother. He pampered her full-time, earning the admiration of internet users. In 2020, when GB wanted a little “me-time” but couldn’t go to the salon due to the pandemic, Matthew went above and beyond to create a home spa day for her. Despite being a novice, he took care of his grandmother’s hair and elegantly served her favorite mimosa cocktail. GB was over the moon and confessed to her fans that her grandson had made her “Beautimus.” From that day on, Matthew continued to take care of his grandmother’s hair until the end of her days.
Matthew’s dedication to his grandmother knew no bounds. He cherished her authenticity and their ability to be themselves around each other. “I love the fact that she is herself. You can’t change her; she says what she thinks. We can be ourselves with each other,” he expressed.
As GB moved in with her grandson, she was already a lung cancer survivor but had begun showing symptoms of dementia. Morgan made the decision to leave her job to personally care for GB and take her to her medical appointments. However, despite their best efforts, GB’s physical and mental health continued to decline. The final blow came with an accident from which GB could not recover. She passed away on January 26, 2022, before having the chance to meet her great-granddaughter, who was born in April. As a tribute, the young couple adorned their daughter’s room with GB’s famous phrase, “Beautimus.”
