98-Year-Old Kentuckian Meets 6 Generations of Family

“We found this moment especially extraordinary because it’s an all-girl gathering,” remarked Gracie, who joined MaeDell in the heartwarming snapshot.

The photo showcases four great-granddaughters of MaeDell: Frances Snow, Gracie Snow Howell, Jacqueline Ledford, and Jaisline Wilson. This beautiful image was skillfully captured by Hawkins’ granddaughter, Sheryl Blessing. MaeDell will be celebrating her 99th birthday in July.

In a story that’s as remarkable as her family size, MaeDell married a 50-year-old railroad worker when she was just 16 in 1940, bringing with him ten children from a previous marriage. Her husband, Bill Taylor, often traveled for work. Despite the hardships of the time, the couple went on to have 13 children together and had to manage without most modern conveniences, such as running water and a washer and dryer.

“I know she had a tough life, but she never once complained,” Gracie shared with People magazine.

Gracie went on to say that she’s never heard her mother, Frances, lament the lack of anything in their home. MaeDell’s unwavering love and support have undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping generations of content and healthy women and children, a fact beautifully illustrated in this photograph of six generations of strong women.
